Yes. Lamora Healthcare Ltd is registered with the Care Quality Commission for the regulated activity of Personal Care. Our registration date is 28 February 2023. Our Registered Manager is Norah Chawarika RGN, a qualified Registered General Nurse with over 20 years of experience.
Lamora Healthcare is nurse-led at director level — our two directors are a Registered General Nurse and a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 30 years of combined NHS clinical experience. This means clinical decisions are made or directly supervised by nurses, not administrators. We specialise in complex, high-dependency care that many standard homecare agencies are not equipped to manage.
Live-in Care
Live-in care means a trained, dedicated carer moves into the home to provide continuous one-to-one support. The carer assists with personal care, medication, meals, daily routines, and companionship — while the individual continues to live in their own home. It is a genuine alternative to a care home for those who need regular or round-the-clock support.
Depending on the level of care required, live-in care can be comparable in cost to a residential care home — and in many cases provides significantly more personalised, one-to-one care. For couples who both need support, live-in care is often considerably more cost-effective than two care home placements. We are happy to discuss costs openly during an initial conversation.
Yes. Live-in care is often recommended for individuals with dementia because it keeps them in a familiar environment, which can significantly reduce confusion and distress. Our carers are trained in dementia care, and our nurse-led clinical oversight ensures that any changes in health or behaviour are monitored and escalated appropriately.
Complex Care & Hospital Discharge
Complex care refers to specialist support for individuals with significant, long-term, or life-limiting health needs that go beyond standard homecare. This includes acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, progressive neurological conditions, complex mental health needs, and palliative care. Complex care requires clinical governance and is overseen directly by our nursing directors.
Yes. We provide rapid discharge-to-assess and discharge-to-rehabilitate care packages for individuals leaving hospital. For urgent situations, we can mobilise care within 24 to 72 hours. Hospital discharge coordinators and NHS teams can submit a referral online or call 0333 004 0177.
NHS Continuing Healthcare
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is a package of care funded entirely by the NHS for adults outside of hospital who have a primary health need — significant, complex, or unpredictable healthcare needs. It is not means-tested. Eligibility is assessed by your local Integrated Care Board (ICB) using the NHS CHC Decision Support Tool.
Yes. Lamora Healthcare accepts NHS Continuing Healthcare referrals from ICBs across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes, and nationally for live-in care packages. We have the clinical governance, nurse-led oversight, and documentation required to support CHC-funded packages. Contact our team at referrals@lamorahealthcare.co.uk or call 0333 004 0177.
Ask the person's GP, hospital consultant, or ward nurse to request a CHC checklist assessment. If the checklist indicates potential eligibility, a full Multi-Disciplinary Team assessment will be arranged by the local ICB. The process takes time, so it is important to request it early — particularly if someone is approaching hospital discharge.
Making a Referral
Professional referrals can be submitted via our online referral form at lamorahealthcare.co.uk/referral.html, by emailing referrals@lamorahealthcare.co.uk, or by calling 0333 004 0177. We acknowledge urgent referrals within 4 hours and standard referrals within one working day. Families can make an enquiry via our care enquiry form or by calling the same number.
For planned care packages, we typically begin within 5 to 10 working days of completing an assessment and confirming funding. For urgent situations — hospital discharge, placement breakdown, or escalating risk — we can mobilise care within 24 to 72 hours. Call us directly on 0333 004 0177 for urgent cases.
Our Carers & Workforce
All Lamora Healthcare carers and support workers undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and right to work verification before deployment. Staff complete mandatory training including safeguarding adults and children, medication management, Mental Capacity Act, moving and handling, and infection prevention and control. For complex care packages, additional condition-specific competency sign-off is required before a carer is deployed.
Yes. We believe it is important that individuals and families are comfortable with their carer before care begins. We will introduce you to the carer and allow time for familiarisation before the package starts. For live-in care in particular, we take care to match the carer's skills and personality to the individual.
Supported Living
Supported living is an arrangement where adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, or complex life experiences live in their own tenancy — with personalised support from a trained team — rather than in a residential care setting. The individual holds their own tenancy agreement, giving them legal security and greater autonomy. Lamora Healthcare provides supported living across Bedfordshire and Luton.
Supported living is typically funded by local authorities through a care and support package following a Care Act needs assessment, combined with housing benefit to cover the tenancy costs. Some individuals may also contribute through personal budgets or direct payments. Contact your local authority adult social care team to request an assessment.
