1. Introduction and Commitment

Lamora Healthcare Ltd is a CQC-registered, nurse-led health and social care provider based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. We deliver complex care, live-in care, visiting care, supported living, and supported accommodation across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Luton.

We are committed to playing our part in achieving the UK’s legally binding Net Zero target by 2050, as established under the Climate Change Act 2008 (as amended). As a small-to-medium enterprise operating in the community care sector, we recognise that our direct environmental footprint is limited compared to large industrial or manufacturing organisations. We are nevertheless committed to understanding, measuring, and progressively reducing our greenhouse gas emissions in a manner that is proportionate to our size and operations.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared with reference to PPN 06/21 (Procurement Policy Note — Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the Procurement of Major Government Contracts) and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard. It will be reviewed and updated at least annually.

2. Our Emissions Profile

As a community care provider, Lamora Healthcare’s emissions profile differs significantly from office-based or manufacturing businesses. Our primary operational activities are:

  • Community-based care delivery at clients’ homes across our operating area
  • A small administrative office base used for governance, training, and coordination
  • Staff travel between client locations in the course of care delivery
  • Procurement of consumables, personal protective equipment, and care materials

We do not operate a fleet of vehicles, maintain large commercial premises, or engage in industrial processes. Our Scope 1 emissions (direct) are minimal. Our Scope 2 emissions (purchased energy for our office) are modest. Our most material emissions category is Scope 3 (indirect), principally arising from staff travel to care visits.

Baseline Emissions Estimate (2024–25)

Our 2024–25 baseline represents an estimated position. We intend to refine this with measured data during 2025–26 and to publish updated figures in the next revision of this plan.

Emissions Scope Source Estimated Status
Scope 1 — DirectNo company-owned vehicles or gas combustion on siteNegligible
Scope 2 — EnergyOffice electricity and heatingLow — small office footprint
Scope 3 — IndirectStaff travel to care visits; procurement; wastePrimary source — being quantified

3. Carbon Reduction Measures

The following measures are either in place or committed to for implementation within 12 months. Each is practical and proportionate to our scale and operations.

3.1 Digital Administration and Paperless Working

  • Governance documentation, care plans, risk assessments, and staff records are maintained digitally wherever possible.
  • Electronic communication is the default for all internal and external correspondence.
  • Printing is restricted to essential operational documents only.
  • We are actively reviewing digital care management platforms to further reduce paper-based documentation.

3.2 Efficient Travel and Rota Planning

  • Staff rotas are planned to minimise unnecessary travel, grouping visits geographically where operationally safe to do so.
  • Video conferencing and telephone are used for internal meetings, supervision, and commissioner liaison where appropriate.
  • Staff are encouraged to use lower-emission travel options for commuting and care visits where practical and safe.
  • We will consider proximity to our operating area when recruiting care staff.

3.3 Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • Recycling facilities are maintained at our office and staff are encouraged to separate recyclable materials.
  • We are reviewing procurement of single-use items and PPE to reduce packaging and select lower-emission suppliers where quality and regulatory requirements allow.
  • Clinical waste is disposed of through approved clinical waste contractors in accordance with regulatory requirements.

3.4 Energy-Conscious Office Practices

  • Lights, computers, and electrical equipment are switched off when not in use.
  • Energy efficiency is considered when replacing office equipment.
  • We will seek to source electricity from a renewable energy tariff at our next contract renewal.

3.5 Procurement and Supply Chain

  • We will seek to procure goods and services from suppliers demonstrating a commitment to reducing their environmental impact, where practical and cost-effective.
  • Environmental considerations will be included in supplier evaluation criteria for new procurement arrangements.

3.6 Staff Awareness

  • Environmental responsibility is included in staff induction and reinforced through internal communications.
  • Staff are encouraged to raise ideas for reducing the organisation’s environmental impact.

4. Net Zero Target and Reduction Pathway

Lamora Healthcare commits to the UK’s Net Zero target of 2050. As an SME in the community care sector, we will pursue a progressive reduction in emissions through the measures in Section 3, and by establishing more precise measurement over time to enable data-driven decisions.

We commit to reviewing our reduction targets as our baseline data matures and as new guidance for SMEs in health and social care becomes available. We will update this plan annually to reflect our current position and any new measures in place.

5. Governance and Annual Review

Responsibility for this Carbon Reduction Plan sits with the Director and Nominated Individual of Lamora Healthcare Ltd. The plan will be reviewed annually, updated to reflect our current emissions position and any new measures implemented, and re-published on this page. Progress against Section 3 measures will be reviewed as part of our annual governance review cycle.

6. Declaration

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and approved on behalf of Lamora Healthcare Ltd. The information contained in this plan is accurate to the best of our knowledge and represents a genuine commitment to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions in support of the UK’s Net Zero target.
